Meet Leroy

A Life of Service, Rooted in Berkeley County

Leroy Godfrey Jr. didn't come to public service through politics. He came to it the way most things in his life have come — through faith, family, work, and showing up for his neighbors.

Servant First, Candidate Second

Leroy Godfrey Jr. is a father and family man whose life in Berkeley County has been built around three commitments: his faith, his family, and his community. As a Christian minister and associate pastor, and as a Sunday school superintendent and teacher, Leroy has spent decades doing the quiet, steady work of service — the kind that never makes headlines but holds communities together.

As a small-business owner, he knows what it means to make payroll, serve customers, and stand behind your word. As a disabled United States veteran, he carries the discipline and sense of duty that come from wearing the uniform of his country — service he is proud of, though it is only one chapter of a life spent serving.

And as a longtime Berkeley County resident and community advocate, Leroy has watched the county he loves grow faster than its roads, schools, drainage, and public services can bear. He has seen decisions made one project at a time, with residents living with the consequences for decades.

Why He's Running

Leroy didn't start speaking up because he was running for office. He is running for office because District 6 needs someone who will speak up. Before ever asking for a vote, Leroy stood before the Berkeley County Planning Commission — twice — to raise the questions residents deserve to have answered: What happens to our traffic? Our schools? Our drainage? Our emergency services?

He believes public office is not a trophy. It is a responsibility. His campaign — and his service on council — will be measured by one standard: Responsible Growth. Accountable Leadership. Residents First.
