Make Your Plan to Vote
There are three ways to vote in South Carolina — early, absentee by mail, or on election day. Whichever you choose, know the deadlines and have your plan ready. Every vote in District 6 counts.
The Dates That Matter
Register to Vote
You must be registered at least 30 days before the election. Mail applications must be postmarked by Monday, October 5, 2026 (the 30th day falls on a Sunday, so the postmark deadline extends to Monday). Don’t wait — register online now with a S.C. driver’s license or DMV ID.
Absentee Application
Your completed absentee application must reach the county voter registration office by 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2026 — the 11th day before the election. Start early: applications come by mail, and your ballot follows by mail.
Early Voting & Election Day
Early voting runs Monday, October 19 – Saturday, October 31 (closed Sunday, Oct. 25), 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Election day is Tuesday, November 3, polls open 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
Vote Early: October 19–31
Any registered voter can vote early — no excuse needed. Visit any early-voting center in Berkeley County, show your photo ID, and vote just like you would on election day. Centers are open 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday (closed Sunday, October 25).

Vote Absentee
Absentee voting is by mail and requires a qualifying reason. You qualify if any of these applies to you:
Who Qualifies
- You are 65 or older
- You have a physical disability
- Work obligations keep you from voting during the entire early-voting period and on election day
- You are caring for a sick or disabled person, and that prevents you from voting early or on election day
- You will be away from Berkeley County for the entire early-voting period and on election day
- You are a member of the Armed Forces or Merchant Marines, or their spouse or dependent living with them
- You are confined to a jail or pretrial facility awaiting trial
- You are admitted to the hospital as an emergency patient on election day or within four days before it
How It Works — Four Steps
- Request an application from the Berkeley County voter registration office — by phone, in person, or by U.S. mail. You’ll need your name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- Complete, sign, and return the application by mail or in person — received by 5:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.
- Receive your ballot by mail (mailed roughly 30 days before the election if you apply early).
- Vote and return it — by mail (send no later than a week before election day) or in person with photo ID. Ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on election day.
Vote on Election Day: Tuesday, November 3
Polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On election day you must vote at your assigned precinct — look it up before you go, and bring your photo ID.
Accepted Photo ID
- S.C. driver’s license (or a license issued by another U.S. state)
- DMV-issued photo ID
- U.S. passport
- Federal military ID with a photograph
- S.C. voter registration card with a photograph
