Meeting Recap: Planning Commission Advances Cane Bay Lake Village After Divided Hearing
Thursday, June 25, 2026
On June 24, the Berkeley County Planning Commission advanced the Cane Bay Lake Village development after a lengthy and divided public hearing. Residents once again showed up in numbers to raise concerns about traffic, school capacity, drainage, and emergency services.
Leroy Godfrey Jr. addressed the commission for the second time this year, telling members that “traffic doesn’t follow good intentions — it follows the path of least resistance.” LiAnna Godfrey also spoke, adding her voice to the residents asking the county to plan before it approves.
The full hearing is available on the county’s official YouTube channel, and The Berkeley Observer covered the meeting in detail. Leroy will keep showing up — and keep asking the questions residents deserve to have answered on the record.
